In recent weeks, we've learned a lot more about Obama-era corruption and criminality.
One aspect of this Obama-era wrongdoing has been the unmasking of then-incoming Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
Flynn was speaking with the Russian ambassador (aka doing his job) when his phone calls were listened into by high-ranking members of the Obama intelligence agencies.
When this occurs, the name of the U.S. citizen should not be made known unless that U.S. citizen is involved in criminal wrongdoing.
There was never any credible allegation of criminality made against Michael Flynn.
Nonetheless, dozens of high-ranking Obama Administration officials, including Joe Biden, John Brennan, and Jim Clapper, called for Flynn's unmasking.
Such an injustice should not have happened to Michael Flynn, and it should not happen to any law-abiding U.S. citizen, regardless of if that citizen is Republican, Democrat, or an independent.
This is why all of us should be opposed to what happened to Michael Flynn. If government officials can get away with doing it to Flynn, they can get away with doing it to any of us.
Now, U.S. Attorney John Durham is already leading a criminal investigation into known Obama-era wrongdoing. AG Barr must believe that the unmasking episode runs deep enough that it warrants its own probe.
These probes must be fair and thorough. At their conclusion, we deserve to learn the extent of what was found, seeing as how we're the taxpayers who fund this nation's government. We deserve to know about any and all government wrongdoing that takes place on our dime.
And we deserve to see all government corruption/criminality fully punished. Send a message that government corruption was not tolerated when it happened during the Obama years and likewise will not be tolerated at any point going forward.
