ONEIDA, WI (WTAQ) – Oneida Casino locations plan to reopen in phases beginning today.
The tribe closed its casinos in March because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Under the first phase of the plan, the Main-Airport Casino, Irene Moore Activity Center (IMAC) and West Mason Casinos will open with slot play only. There will be no table games or bingo.
Guests and front-line employees will be required to wear face coverings over their noses and mouths. Signs will remind people to social distance. No smoking will be allowed. Beverages will no longer be self-serve and food service will be “grab-and-go.”
Oneida gaming general manager Louise Cornelius had this to say in a news release.
“We’ll plan to recall about half of our team members that were furloughed after being paid in full for three weeks following our closure in March. Our team members will be screened every day with a temperature check and general health questionnaire. We will continue to call back additional team members back as we engage in other phases of recovery. We are putting the finishing touches on our operations to create an enjoyable fun filled environment in the safest manner we can. Our goal is to recover our operations in a way that’s fun, safe, and secure for our guests and our team members.”
The casinos are set to open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 a.m. They will be deep-cleaned and sanitized while they are closed.
Despite plans to reopen the casinos, the Oneida Nation has extended its “Safer at Home” declaration to June 11.
