BELLEVUE, WI (WTAQ) — Brown County Sheriff’s Officials are warning that counterfeit $100 bills have been passed around in Brown County.
Four such bills were found at the Bellevue Wal-Mart location earlier this month. Three of them had the same serial numbers.
The fake bills have “ten” instead of “one hundred” written on their security strips and are believed to be altered ten dollar bills. Similar bills have turned up in Elkhorn and Menominee Falls.
They’re believed to be the work of a criminal organization based outside of the United States.
