GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Customers haven’t set foot inside Furs and Clothing of Distinction in weeks.
But on Monday, Jill Muenster learned she can reopen her downtown Green Bay shop.
“My phone just like blew up!” she said with excitement.
Muenster tells FOX 11 things stared happening about the time she got the all-clear to unlock her doors.
“All these customers were messaging me and saying ‘I heard you could open, can we come in can we make an appointment, what’s the best way when are you going to be there?’ So it was just exciting, it was just like Christmas morning!”
While five or less customers may seem like a small number, she says the order has a big impact.
“I think five customers at a time for a small business like us is very realistic and doable and extremely helpful.”
Plenty of businesses like Muenster’s have been waiting to open their doors for weeks. But essential businesses that have been able to stay open are just as excited about the Governor’s order.
“We’ve seen very good sales in April and May,” said George Kapitz. He owns the Broken Spoke Bike Studio, just around the corner from Muenster.
Kapitz tells FOX 11 as neighboring businesses start to open, more people will find their way into his store too.
“When you have more people downtown just not shopping at one store but it’s making the trip of coming downtown and making it a destination. A lot of walk in sales will come from that.”
Both Kapitz and Muenster say they’re looking forward to the state reopening safely, and Monday’s order could be a step in the right direction.
It’s all so local businesses can start getting back to normal.
All businesses must continue to follow all safety precautions and guidelines as outlined in the Safer at Home order.
