CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (April 20, 2020) – UW-Stout senior Trystin Kluess has taken steps upward each of her four years on the Blue Devil women’s golf team. Kluess was selected to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-Central Region team.Kluess took steps forward each year in the WIAC Women’s Golf Championship, finishing 11th as a freshman, sixth as a sophomore, third as a junior and capped off her collegiate career in what would be her final college meet with a first place finish as a senior at the 2019 WIAC Championship last fall. “I’m so proud of Trystin and the way she improved her physical game and her course management each and every year,” said UW-Stout women’s golf coach Howie Samb. “It took a lot of hard work and a real positive attitude. She was really fun to coach, she was always willing to make changes and implement them right away to help her get better.”Earning second team All-WIAC honors as a junior and sophomore, Kluess this season was a first team selection.In six events this year, Kluess never finished lower than 17th individually and finished the fall season with a pair of firsts – the WIAC Championship and at the UW-Stout Invitational. Kluess broke 80 in all but two of 12 total rounds and twice scored a 72, the final time in the final round of the WIAC Championship, tying for the third best single round score in the history of the tournament. Her 54-hole score of 226 was also the best score in the history of the tournament.
Kluess saw her stroke average improve each season, starting with a stroke average of 84.3 as a freshman, 83.4 as a sophomore, 80.5 as a junior and crushed 80 as a senior, with a stroke average of 77.4.
A Golf Enterprise Management (GEM) major, Kluess was also able to get it done in the classroom, earning UW-Stout Scholar-Athlete honors.
