APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Lawrence University is opening one of its residence halls to Appleton city staff to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
Trever Hall will be made available to the city from now until the end of August.
The building, just off of Meade Street, will not be used as a medical facility or to house COVID-19 patients but will become a space the city can use for its personnel.
Lawrence University has cleaned and prepped the hall. The city will then be responsible for ongoing cleaning and no Lawrence students or staff will be allowed in the building while it’s occupied by the city.
Trever Hall normally houses about 170 students.
Lawrence University moved to distance learning for its spring term, which runs through June 10th.
A limited number of students were unable to go home and still remain on campus. Access to buildings across the campus are limited or restricted.
