GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Protesters have taken to the streets around Wisconsin following the extension of the Safer at Home order last week.
While some flooded the streets in places like Brookfield – and plan to flood the streets in Madison – to force the reopening of Wisconsin’s economy, the efforts could be counterproductive.
“They’re kind of going against what they want. They want the economy open, and I get that, we all do. They want the restrictions to go away – we all do,” Prevea Health CEO Dr. Ashok Rai says, “It’s been pretty clear that we need to see a decrease in numbers over a two-week time period to accomplish that. So going out and not practicing social distancing, not wearing a mask, standing shoulder-to-shoulder – that accomplishes basically the antithesis of what they want.”
Rai says things will gradually return to normal, but it will happen faster if people follow suggestions from health officials.
“We really need to be able to find a way to express our opinions while still keeping yourself and society safe,” Rai tells WTAQ News.
