DEPERE, WI (WTAQ) – It isn’t much, but one of the rules that’s been relaxed in Governor Tony Evers’ ‘Safer at Home’ order during the coronavirus pandemic will allow golf courses to open.
Kathy VanDeHey, owner of Mid-Valle Golf Course in De Pere, says she found out after taking several calls.
“How I first found out was I had a golfer, one of our members called and said “hey, you open?”
She checked it out and sure enough, they’re back in business.
“That’s what I’ve been hearing all along from people. I miss it so much, I miss just being able to get out there, the sunshine, the course is beautiful.”
There’s restrictions like no motorized golf carts, no touching the flag sticks on the greens, and maintain strick social distancing. Basically walking from your car to the 1st tee.
“Policing it so to speak. To make sure we don’t do anything, or let our golfers do anything to ruin it for anybody else.”
VandeHey says they can make it work. She says the phone has been ringing off the hook with people reserving tee-times. Golf is back starting next Friday.
