OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – UW-Oshkosh Head Start offered Easter meals to families with students in its programs.
“It’s definitely a joy to be able to call the families and be able to tell them that they are offered this meal,” said Valeri Donnelly, UW-Oshkosh Head Start Health Services Associate Director.
With curbside pickup, Head Start staff handed out the bagged meals to the families.
Nearby Screwballs Sports Pub donated hams, potatoes, stuffing, corn and butter for each meal.
“I literally just watched somebody pull up and she was teary-eyed and crying, and I said to my wife over here this is exactly what it’s about,” said Joe Novotny, owner of Screwballs.
UW-Oshkosh Head Start says it will consider additional food offerings to families in the future, partnering with community volunteers.
