GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — A Green Bay Alderman is seeking a formal, outside investigation into the handling of Tuesday’s election.
8th District Alderman Chris Wery wants to know why the city turned away help from private citizens and the Wisconsin National Guard to help run the election. He’s submitted a formal request to the city council to launch an investigation.
In a press release, Wery says that if the full council doesn’t take up the request, he will pursue one himself.
The move will likely be referred to a committee for discussion then back to the council for a vote.
Tuesday’s election in Green Bay saw lines of up to four hours long at the city’s two open polling locations.
Mayor Eric Genrich said this week on Facebook he turned down the help because he didn’t want to put more people in a “Dangerous” and “Stressful” situation.
