OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Oshkosh grocery store is one step closer to being built.
The Oshkosh Food Co-op announced Monday it is at 85% of its campaign goal of $1.6 million.
With one day left in the campaign, organizers are remaining optimistic.
The proposed grocery store site will be downtown, at the corner of Jackson St. and Pearl Ave.
The project’s manager, Elizabeth Redman, says that she hopes it can help re-vitalize an area of downtown.
“This is going to bring a lot more people to Central City to do their shopping, and nationally, food co-op source about 20% of their goods locally, so we are excited to grow the local food economy, and help alleviate the food insecurity that’s happening in this area,” Redman said.
