APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – It’s tough times for the convention and visitor’s bureau biz these days.
“Obviously the COVID situation and Safer At Home orders no mass gatherings are allowed.”
But the Fox Cities Convention & Visitor’s Bureau is trying to make the best of it.
“Our attractions, as well as our local businesses, have really stepped to fill in this need.”
Beth Knapinski is the marketing director at the Fox Cities CVB.
She says while some conventions have had to cancel or reschedule, and some shows postponed…many area businesses have rallied to do what they can to show the community they haven’t gone dark.
“Think innovatively and still offer services and take out options and shopping options.”
Fox-Cities-dot-Org is utilizing a drop down of COVID 19 resources, listing restaurants that are still open, retailers that have online deals, even activities for kids.
This is all happening in the midst of a new study by the Wisconsin Policy Forum, that says Wisconsin’s economy will be harder hit by the coronavirus pandemic in areas where there is more tourism.
The longer the current economic situation lasts, the more it will affect summer business.
