GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Public works officials are keeping track of the water level on the east river after consistent rain over the weekend.
While flooding issues in March haven’t been as much of a concern as they were last year, Green Bay Public Works Director Steve Grenier says they’ve got an eye out for what comes next.
“What we’re keeping an eye on is the frequency, intensity, and duration of storm events,” Grenier said. “How many storms come back to back and how long we have between those storms.”
Grenier said the weekend’s rain was concerning, but ultimately caused just minor ponding on some streets.
“Some of the thunderstorms that came over the weekend had potential to get nastier than they were, but they weren’t particularly long in duration,” Grenier told WTAQ.
More gradual snow melt has also contributed to a less flooded March.
