GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Brown County Sheriff’s officials are on the lookout for a man who is apartment impersonating a law enforcement officer and conducting bogus “compliance checks” during the stay-at-home order.
Captain Jody Lemmons says a woman was pulled over by a white male in his 30s driving a dark colored Chevy Impala and wearing a green uniform–without any insignia.
“He indicated he was doing a ‘compliance check’ for the safer-at-home order and she was ordered to return home,” Lemmons told WTAQ.
It happened in the southern part of Brown County.
The woman did end up returning home, she later reported the incident.
Lemmons says if you’re ever unsure whether you’re being stopped by a legitimate law enforcement officer, call 911 and ask if an officer has stopped you or is operating in the area.
Law enforcement is not conducting any sort of stops or compliance checks during the ‘safer-at-home’ order.
