(WTAQ) — More than 200 cases of the COVID-19 Coronavirus have been confirmed in the state of Wisconsin.
206 cases were confirmed. That’s up from 155 confirmed cases yesterday, and DHS secretary designee Andrea Palm says she expects those numbers to continue to grow.
“This has been hard, and I’m sorry to say we expect the situation to worsen,” Palm said Friday. “COVID-19 will impact thousands of Wisconsinites. Most cases will be mild, but some cases will be more severe.”
Governor Tony Evers took the step of ordering the closure of hair salons, day spas, nail salons, barber shops, tattoo parlors, body art establishments, and tanning facilities. They’re mandated to close as of 5:00 pm Friday.
“Stay at home,” Evers said to members of the media. “There are folks working around the clock to keep us all safe. Our healthcare workers, our first responders, our farmers, our manufacturers, our grocery store employees…they can’t stay at home.”
Evers said Friday that the April 7th election is still set to go on as planned, and that the date will not be moved as it is set by state statute.
State officials are not able to process all tests coming in to state labs due to a shortage of the reagent chemicals required to run them.
