GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The folks at the Georgia Pacific paper plant in Green Bay are making one of the most sought after things in all of America. And they know it.
The plant is working 24/7 to produce toilet paper. But company spokesman Michael Kawleski says that’s standard stuff at G-P.
“The amount of tissue that one of our paper machines makes is the equivalent to a two-ply roll of toilet paper that would circle the globe in one day.”
Since the coronavirus outbreak began, people across the U.S. have been buying-up all the toilet paper they can.
“We are very happy that we have some loyal customers out there…but it looks like some folks may be overstocking a little bit.”
Kawleski says they have plenty of inventory….it’s just a matter of getting the product from the banks of the Fox River to the distributor and then to your store shelves.
But the tissues winds up going to more places than your home. There’s a big ‘outside the home’ market for the products.
“which means, those are the restaurants, the universities, the airports where people might use our products when they’re away from home.”
About 1600 people work at the Georgia-Pacific mill.
