GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The COVID-19 Coronavirus has been confirmed in Brown County.
That was confirmed by county officials on Tuesday in a press release.
“This individual had a domestic flight. They came to Green Bay and started having symptoms. The case was tested and has just now been confirmed,” says Ted Shove wit the Brown County Public Health Department, “They have been self-quarantining. They have been home alone. The individual is in their mid-fifties and presented with fever symptoms – and that’s what prompted them to get a screening and eventually a test.”
Local health officials are currently performing contact tracing to see who the individual may have had contact with prior to becoming symptomatic.
“What we’re trying to do is get the information out as soon as we can craft it in a digestible, non-scientific format. So bear with us, but we’re trying to get it out as quickly as we get it,” Shove tells WTAQ News, “Stay away from areas where there are groups of people in general. The length and duration of this viral infection – you might not notice it right away, so the best precaution is to err on the side of safety.”
Over 100 Wisconsinites have now been confirmed to have the virus.
