APPLETON, WTAQ-WLUK) – The city of Appleton has declared a state of emergency amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Officials also announced the creation of an emergency operations center.
Appleton Mayor Tim Hanna tells FOX 11 the announcements show his city is taking necessary steps.
“Your city is being diligent. We are preparing the best we can. What’s more important for residents is what’s coming out of the CDC, what’s coming out of the state. Earlier today, the requirements of mandatory no gatherings of 50 or more. That’s going to impact our businesses and our residents much much more than anything we do here.”

The order went into effect at 12:01 a.m. today and will continue until further notice.
