GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Green Bay Area Public Schools, Ashwaubenon Schools, and the Appleton Area School District are taking steps to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
All three school districts say they are canceling large gatherings to increase social distancing.
Green Bay schools say effective immediately, school athletics, concerts and other large group activities will be canceled and/or postponed until further notice. Starting Friday, assemblies and other during the day large group gatherings will also be canceled.
Parent-teacher conferences will continue on as planned, as well as before and after school programs, including athletic practices.
Green Bay says it plans to review its lunch procedures after spring break. Families will be notified of any changes prior to March 23.
Ashwaubenon says all of its district-sponsored travel and field trips are canceled until further notice.
All three school districts are also encouraging students to stay home if they are sick.
Meanwhile, the Unified District of De Pere says at this time, no local activities or field trips are canceled. The school district says they have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting surfaces in all buildings and staff is in regular contact with local and state health departments for updates and guidance. If anything in the district’s approach changes. families will be notified.
