NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) – A Fox Valley nonprofit is teaming up with a local trucking company to provide aid for tornado victims in Tennessee.
Jake’s Diapers helped fill a semi that N&M Trucking packed with goods for those in need. That truck took off for the Nashville area Tuesday morning.
“It takes a global community to help friends in need, so we’re excited to help,” says Jake’s Diapers Executive Director Stephanie Bowers, “Everyone is one situation away from being in situational poverty or being in crisis. So when the tornadoes hit last week, we decided that we would stand ready and be able to help if needed.”
N&M Trucking hosted it’s own donation drive, but Jake’s Diapers really helped fill up the trailer this week.
“We sent two full pallets of basic hygiene items. So a combination of baby bottles, diapers, period products, and some other basic needs,” Bowers says.
Despite having their contribution towards immediate aid has shipped, Jake’s Diapers is maintaining focus to stock up for the continued aftermath.
“A lot of times there is the urgent need, but there is also a long term need. So we are ready to help with both the immediate relief, as well as the long term relief,” Bowers tells WTAQ News, “We’re just saving up donations so that in the future we can get them the supplies they need, whatever that may be.”
Monetary donations are being accepted through the Jake’s Diapers website.
