APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center is celebrating a milestone.
On Thursday, it welcomed its 400,000th student to the center during the ArtsPower’s Production of Chicken Dance as part of its education series.
The Amcor Education Series offers weekday, matinee performances for K-12 students throughout Northeast Wisconsin.
“To welcome 400,000 students, to know that we’ve enhanced the education of 400,000 students in our community is really impactful, that’s a full generation of students who have been able to have their classroom lessons enhanced by seeing what they’re learning in their classroom, come to life here on stage,” said Fox Cities P.A.C. president, Maria Van Laanen.
On average, each year more than 24,000 students attend an Amcor Education Series performance at the Fox Cities P.A.C.
Van Laanen says students enjoy their educational experiences at the P.A.C.
“And what I love is when you watch the students leave the building, so often they’re talking about how they’re going to work together when they get back to school to recreate something that they just saw on stage,” she said.
The series is funded by area businesses, individuals and state grants.
Tickets are subsidized and are offered from $5 – $7 per student with a complimentary chaperone ticket for every 15 students. Scholarship tickets are also available to students and full classes with financial limitations.
