BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Monday night’s snowfall had people in the Titletown District out skating and taking it all in before its gone.
“With the snow on the trees it just look so pretty,” said Laurie Dummer.
Andrew Woodbury is holding on to one of his favorite seasons.
“I love the winter. I love everything about it, snowboarding skiing skating I do it all so this is probably my favorite, besides maybe fall because you know football and hunting.”
Those laying the brine and salting the roads say this year has been a peaceful one too.
Brown County Public Works Director Paul Fontecchio tells FOX 11….
“We’ve had quite a bit of snow this year, but we haven’t had the big two foot snow storm, we haven’t had the freezing rain, the ice storms. Its’ been pretty normal like this. It hasn’t been the worst in that regard.”
Fontecchio says this winter is historically right on track, unlike last year.
“End of January last year we had chewed through 23 percent of our budget, this year we’re at 15 percent.”
While that is good for the county budget, he says spring flooding is already a concern.
“Hopefully we can get a bunch of 35-40 degree sunny days and go down to freezing at night and just little melts to help prevent that.”
He says if they can stay below budget this year it will leave room for summer road projects they had to put off last year.
