St. Norbert wraps up the regular season with a home-and-home Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series against neighboring Lawrence. The Green Knights need to earn three more points than Marian this weekend in order to win the North Division of the NCHA standings.
Friday’s game is at 7 p.m. at the Appleton Family Ice Center with Saturday’s game at 7 p.m. at the Cornerstone Community Center.
The Series:St. Norbert holds a 48-1-1 lead in the all-time series with Lawrencedating back to the 1988-89 season.
About the Green Knights:St. Norbert enters the series 13-8-2 overall. The Green Knights improved to 11-1-2 in their last 14 games with a solid 6-1 win over No. 12-ranked Augsburg at home this past Saturday.
Junior forward Peter Bates paces the NCHA in scoring with 14 goals and 22 assists for 36 points. Senior forward Kurt Black leads the NCHA in goals with 17 and also has 12 assists for 29 points. Sophomore forward Peyton Frantti has 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points. Senior forward Dominick Sacco has five goals and 16 points for 21 points.
Freshman goaltender Colby Entz is 8-1-2 with a 2.07 goals against average and .922 save percentage. Junior Ryan Bontorin is 5-7 with a 2.59 goals against average and .906 save percentage.
St. Norbert is 19-for-101 (18.8 percent) on the power play and is 85-for-103 (82.5 percent) on the penalty kill this season.
About the Vikings:Lawrence enters the series 5-16-2 overall and 4-12-2 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. The Vikings were swept this past weekend by Marian by scores of 3-1 and 5-2.
Senior forward Jake Drinkard leads Lawrence in scoring with 11 goals and six assists for 17 points. Sophomore forward Vincent Dekumbis has five goals and nine assists for 14 points, while freshman forward Ivan Galaguzov has five goals and seven assists for 12 points. Senior forward Evan Ketner has three goals and seven assists for 10 points.
Senior goaltender Evan Cline is 1-9-1 with a 3.72 goals against average and .908 save percentage. Sophomore Alex Mosquera is 2-3-1 with a 3.26 goals against average and .886 save percentage, while freshman Brian Tallieu is 2-4 with a 3.93 goals against average and .898 save percentage.
Lawrence is 13-for-105 (12.4 percent) on the power play and is 91-for-113 (80.5 percent) on the penalty kill this season.
