TOWN OF SEYMOUR, WI (WTAQ) – Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department says a 15-year-old boy on a snowmobile died after he crashed into an SUV this morning (WED).
County Road VV is closed between Highway 55 and French Road while crews remain on scene.
Outagamie County Lt. Ryan Carpenter says preliminary investigation shows around 7 a.m., the ninth grader at Seymour High School failed to stop at a stop sign on the Oneida trail system and entered the roadway, colliding with a westbound SUV on County Road VV.
The Black Creek teen, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, died at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, a 37-year-old woman, and two children passengers, were not hurt.
Laurie Asher, Seymour School District superintendent, says she is saddened by the tragedy and counselors will be available at all schools in the coming days and weeks to support students, staff and community members.
