ALLOUEZ, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay Metro Fire Department says 38 residents had to be evacuated after an open closet area fire Friday.
The say the incident happened in the 200 block of E. St. Joesph St. at 4:21 p.m at Bishop’s Court Assisted Living Center.
Crews found heavy smoke in the hallways and a fire in one of the apartments.
Five people were treated on scene. Two residents and one staff member were taken to the hospital.
The fire’s suppression system operating could not be reset.
The remaining residents will be moved to other buildings in the complex or other facilities until the system is working.
60 residents will be effected. The fire also caused $20,000 in damage.
