KIEL, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Kiel police say a woman accused of stealing thousands of dollars from her employer is now in custody.
Officials say the investigation began in June of 2019, when a local business owner suspected one of his employees may have stolen funds from the business.
After the business owner had an audit done, police say it showed the employee had taken more than $65,000 from the business between 2018 and 2019.
Police say they are recommending more than 200 felony counts against the woman, including theft by virtue of employment, forgery, uttering and fraudulent writings.
On Thursday, the 51-year-old Kewaunee woman was arrested and taken to the Manitowoc County Jail.
Police did not reveal the name of the business.
The investigation is ongoing.
