FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Travis Wollersheim was sentenced Wednesday to one year in jail for the 2016 crash which killed a Neenah man and his son – and then was ordered by the judge to apologize to the family of the victims.
Wollersheim, 35, was convicted at a September trial of two counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle. Judge Dale English also placed Wollersheim on probation for three years and ordered him to perform 120 hours of community service – including some presentations to driver’s education classes.
David Button, 26, was slowing down behind a semi, approaching a construction zone, when Wollersheim crashed into the back of them. Button and his son, Joseph, 8, were killed.
According to the criminal complaint, a witness told investigators Wollersheim never slowed down and “collided full speed into the car.”
