FREEDOM, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Juvenile court charges will be requested against a 15-year-old boy accused of writing a threat on a bathroom wall at Freedom High School.
The note discovered on Monday suggested someone was going to “shoot up the school” on Tuesday. But a quick investigation determined it was safe for classes to continue.
“We check the security cameras in the area of the restrooms and tried to figure out a time that it happened, then interviewed students who were in the area at that time,” says Outagamie County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Ryan Carpenter.
Investigators were able to figure out who left the graffiti and sat down with his family.
“We spoke extensively with the parents and the student and also searched the residence. There were no weapons or anything he could do anything with,” Carpenter tells WTAQ News, “The juvenile was blowing off steam and chose a very poor platform to do it.”
Until heading to juvenile court, the teen will be allowed to stay at home.
“He was referred to juvenile intake, but he wasn’t taken into custody. He was turned over to his parents,” Carpenter says.
No court dates were given.
