GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The US Census Bureau is looking for census takers all over the country, and the well paying-temporary jobs are available in Northeast Wisconsin.
“These are good-paying, temporary, part-time government jobs. We know that interest will be very high for these types of jobs,” says Susan Bach of the Better Business Bureau.
You just have to make sure you sign up in the right place.
“Everyone needs to go to the same place to fill out an application, and they shouldn’t have to pay for the service,” Bach says, “Between now and the spring, they need to hire all of these census takers. So you should be seeing postings about these types of jobs, and we just want to make sure people are clicking through to the appropriate place.”
While signing up for an application may seem straightforward, the Internet can be deceptive. Make sure you’re on the right website before entering information to become a census taker.
“Don’t be fooled by look-alike websites, it should be a .gov website,” Bach tells WTAQ News, “The only legitimate website to fill out an application is 2020census.gov/jobs.”
Bach also warns about people online who may claim they’ll help you land the job.
“Watch out for emails or social media posts that claim to help you to get one of these jobs,” Bach says, “They’ll offer – for a fee – to help with the application or give some insider tips or guarantee these jobs. But tips or insider information or guarantees just don’t exist.”
Again, there will be legitimate postings online and on social media for these jobs. But if you click through the link, remember to check for the ‘.gov’.
