SAN FRANCISCO, CA (WTAQ) – A dominant performance for the San Francisco 49ers has ended the season for the Green Bay Packers. The Packers fell 37-20 in the NFC Championship game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on Sunday.
It was a brutal game for the Packers and their fans, as they got off to a slow start. The 49ers led 27-0 at halftime. The Packers never seemed to find a rhythm, and were unable to mount a true second half comeback.
The Green Bay defense couldn’t seem to stop anything on the ground, as Raheem Mostert steamrolled for an historic 220 yards and 4 touchdowns on 29 carries. That’s the most rushing yards ever in a playoff game for any 49er player. Tevin Coleman tacked on 21 yards – but left the game with an injury after an awkward landing on his arm. 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garapollo may have the looks, but had nearly non-existent statistics going 6-for-8 with 77 yards.
Aaron Rodgers did what he could to help the team, going 31-for-39 through the air with 326 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He now has 40 postseason touchdowns, breaking Brett Favre’s team record of 39. But he also threw two interceptions and lost a fumble. Aaron Jones had 12 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown, along with 5 catches for 27 yards and a touchdown. Davante Adams had an impressive 9 reception for 138 yards.
The 49ers will head to Miami to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV on February 2nd.
