GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Last week Green Bay mayor Eric Genrich made a friendly wager with Seattle’s mayor, Jenny Durkan, ahead of the Packers-Seahawks game.
Both mayors agreed to wear the winning team’s colors while doing an act of community service.
Wearing green and gold, Mayor Genrich and members from city staff and the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation volunteered at Paul’s Pantry Wednesday.
Genrich tells FOX 11….
“The idea really was to use the platform of the Packers, the NFL to highlight significant community need, both in Green Bay and Seattle and also highlight an organization like Paul’s Pantry which is doing great work every single day for people in Green Bay.”
Durkan and her team of volunteers will sport Packers colors while they volunteer next week at a Seattle food pantry as part of the MLK Day of Service.
The Packers will take on the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Sunday.
Mayor Genrich says he’s in the process of making a similar wager with San Francisco’s mayor but the final details haven’t been set yet
