DE PERE, WI (WTAQ) – The De Pere P-D is taking the wraps off its new way to distribute information. ‘ You Get it First’ is an alert and information app to enhance information sharing.
The free app will allow police to get the word out about developing emergencies, public safety issues, crimes, and missing people.
“This is an app that will be able to give direct communication in real time to our citizens and members of the community.
Officer Jedd Bradley is with De Pere Police. He’s encouraged about how this new tool will not only help get the word out about all of those things….but residents will in turn help police.
“Giving them the information, vital time, and then they can help us solve the problem.”
Bradley says the public won’t be bombarded with every parking restriction or barking dog complaints.
“The only time you’re going to get an alert is when there’s important information. That way we can steer you clear of an area or ask for your help looking for something.”
He says members of the public, those who live and work in De Pere, and anyone in the local media is being encouraged to subscribe to this app.
In addition to emergency alerts, the app will also be utilized to distribute news releases from the De Pere Police Department.
The app is free on both the Android and IOS platforms on the App Store and Google Play site. Users can then subscribe to the De Pere Police Department.
