GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay Metro Fire crews were dispatched for the report of a fire at Sofidel America which is a large paper converting facility.
Upon arrival, crews found a large portion of the approximately 1,000,000 square foot warehouse heavily charged with smoke. Upon entry, crews found some fire still active on a paper converting machine.
The fire was quickly extinguished and ventilation of the large warehouse was initiated. Crews remained on scene for an extendedperiod to complete the ventilation of smoke from the building.
Facility staff was in the process of completing the evacuation of all personnel as Fire Dept. crews arrived.
No injuries were reported and damage is estimated at $250,000.
Business owners and managers are reminded to have a functional evacuation and accountability plan in place to assure the rapid evacuation and ability to completely and accurately account for all on-scene personnel in the event of an emergency.
