GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — 2020 is another census year, and Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach says they need census workers in Brown County.
“They need people,” Streckenbach said Wednesday. “They need people to go out and help with the census, and they’re paying a wage between $19 and $21 [an hour].”
The Census Bureau has recently upped their offered pay to attract more workers.
“If you’re a retiree, college student, someone looking for temporary employment or a second job, it’s a great way to earn some extra cash,” said Streckenbach.
The census, which takes place every ten years in the United States, is particularly important for local governments.
“The federal government releases about $675 billion to local municipalities, counties, and states,” Streckenbach told WTAQ’s ‘Morning News with Matt and Earl’. “It’s all based on the census.”
The census is also used to draw legislative and school districts. Census Day, when most households are expected to get their census forms, will be on April 1st.
