ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) — It’s not typical procedure, but with heavy snow in the forecast Saturday night, the Green Bay Packers are asking for the public’s help to shovel snow out of Lambeau the morning of their playoff matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.
“We have not had a snow removal operation such as this, on a game day, previously,” Director of Public Affairs Aaron Popkey told WTAQ. “Not in my 27 years with the organization.”
The Packers are asking as many as 700 shovelers to assist with the process beginning at 6 a.m.
“If there are 700 people who come out, that would be great,” said Popkey. “It would allow us to move through a little more quickly than we normally would, which we would certainly like to on a game day morning.”
Those interested are asked to report to the Fleet Farm Gate on Lambeau Field’s west side, with temporary parking available in Lot 6. Vehicles must be removed from Lot 6 when shoveling is complete.
Because it’s game day, extra security procedures will be in place. All shovelers will have to pass through metal detectors and no bags, backpacks, or purses will be allowed inside.
Shovelers need to be at least 18 years old and will receive $12 per hour, with payment to be made immediately upon completion of their work. The Packers will provide shovels to all who come to help.Portions of Northeast Wisconsin could see snowfall of between 6 and 12 inches Saturday night.
