OUTAGAMIE COUNTY (WTAQ) – A series of grants are set to make a difference in the Fox Valley. The company dished out checks during a grand opening at their new location on Westhill Boulevard in Grand Chute on Wednesday.
Kwik Trip donated $1,000 to the Outagamie County Community Emergency Response Team, a volunteer group that provides aid to emergency responders like firefighters and police officers. The organization is made up of more than 45 volunteers who provide food, fluids and even emotional support.
“Our team is the only active CERT team in the state of Wisconsin. This donation will certainly help us continue to provide the services to our local emergency responders – as well as train additional CERT members,” says Outagamie County CERT coordinator Paula Rieder, “It’s an amazing group of people who dedicate their free time to helping out in their communities, it’s neighbors helping neighbors, they teach preparedness to the general public just so that everybody can be a little bit better prepared in the event of a disaster.”
Kwik Trip will help CERT members find the supplies they need as they head out to provide aid. That includes provisions like food and drinks that are brought to emergency responders on the scene.
“I know a lot of these volunteer-based organizations, they have a hard job to do out there and they do a service that many of our community members don’t know is happening on a regular basis and they respond whenever they’re called upon and as they mentioned today, sometimes that’s at 2, 3 in the morning and it’s fantastic that our organization, Kwik Trip, is able to support this group,” says Doug Pollesch, a district leader for Kwik Trip Incorporated.
Kwik Trip also donated $1,000 to the Grand Chute Police Department K9 unit.
The Outagamie County CERT received a second grant on Wednesday from the Walmart Community Grants Team program.
