GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – How are the Packers preparing for their first playoff game in three years? By getting everyone in Green Bay excited about the game.
“We are only two games away from the Superbowl so this is a big deal,” said Kandi Goltz, Packers manager of game entertainment.
She tells FOX 11 they’re counting down the days to the big game.
“Green and gold Fridays everyone wears your green and gold all over Green Bay all over Wisconsin. Saturday we have our pep rally at 6 o clock the Turn.”
They’re hoping it’s the first playoff game of many.
“Let’s do whatever we can to make Lambeau field as loud as possible, we need that home-field advantage.”
Cheese-heads are being brought in by the truckload.
Goltz says they’re doing it all to get the fans excited.
“We’ve stepped it up a little bit people we’ll see things on Sunday. We just have a lot of excitement it’s a night game so we’re able to play with our stadium lights, people have seen that throughout the season, flashing lights when we score a touchdown.”
Law enforcement is also preparing.
“With a playoff game there is a lot more hype there is a lot more people excited in the community, but we want them to be responsible,” said Commander Kevin Warych with Green Bay police.
Warych tells FOX 11 preparing for the playoffs isn’t much different than preparing for a regular-season game.
“It’s hard to determine 80,000 versus 79,000 people. It will be a sell-out crowd I’m sure, but we will be there, officers will be there.”
It’s not just rowdy fans Warych says police will be on the lookout for.
“We have to make sure we work with other local law enforcement agencies we look at things happening around the world make sure we keep Green Bay safe, not only at Lambeau but everywhere throughout the city.”
