GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Over 4,000 attendees from across the state came together to make a difference in Green Bay this weekend.
One hundred thirty different religious youth groups took part in the Big Convention at the KI Convention Center.
Attendees participated in group worship, listened to speakers, and assisted in service projects.
Bill VanKirk, service project coordinator, tells FOX 11 this year’s service project saw the Districts Youth Conference team up with Foster the Village.
“It’s really neat because a lot of kids enter foster care without very much, maybe just the clothes on their back and so this is something they can hold onto and they can call their own, and it can really help them transition into a foster care family.”
Youth groups assembled 500 backpacks filled with children’s supplies for kids in foster care.
All the items in the backpacks were purchased with donations from conference attendees.
