WAUPUN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Waupun Correctional Institution is under lockdown, days after a staff member was assaulted by a person in custody with an “improvised weapon.”
The incident happened on Christmas Eve.
The staff member was taken to an area hospital.
The Department of Corrections investigators and Dodge County detectives remain on scene.
The Waupun Correctional Institution will remain on lockdown until investigators can determine it is safe to resume regular operations.
