APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Police are investigating the death of a 37-year old man involved in a pair of medical calls in Appleton early Monday morning.
Officers responded to a home on the 600 block of West Verbrick Street for reports of a man who had a seizure and possibly stopped breathing around 2:00 a.m. Investigators determined he had been using cocaine. He was treated at a hospital and released.
Around 4:48 a.m., officers were called back to the home by the wife, who reported the man was having another seizure and being aggressive. Medical personnel attempted to provide first aid, but he died at the scene.
There is no evidence indicating that officers’ actions were a factor in the death, but an outside agency will investigate because officers were involved. Green Bay Police will conduct the formal investigation. The Outagamie County District Attorney’s Office has also been notified.
Police report that no additional details will be provided at this time out of respect for the family and for the integrity of the investigation.
