TWO RIVERS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Investigators released the name of the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s deputy involved in a fatal crash earlier this week.
Officials say Deputy Eric Roehl was trying to stop a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on County Highway 310 in Two Rivers on the morning of December 22nd.
According to the investigation, the vehicle, driven by Forest Springstube, left the roadway and crashed. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
Law enforcement immediately provided medical aid to Springstube but he died as a result of neck and internal injuries sustained in the crash.
No officers were injured during the incident.
Deputy Roehl has been placed on administrative leave, per department policy.
DCI continues to lead the investigation.
