TOWN OF BUCHANAN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A Fox Valley child’s wish for a synchronized Christmas light show has come true.
The event is for Benjamin Thompson, 6, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at 3 years old.
He is now in remission, and his mom, Nicole, tells FOX 11 Ben wants to share his wish with the community.
“His favorite is the Christmas light shows with the synchronized music. That was the only thing when he was first diagnosed that he was able to do, was go to his light shows, because he couldn’t go out in public because his blood counts were too low to run the risk of infection.”
She calls her son tough and strong — Ben has spent half his life fighting cancer.
“It’s just happiness and to take his mind off of treatment I think, and just to have something that he gets to look at every night.”
Ben’s wish is the 7,000th wish granted by Make-A-Wish Wisconsin since the chapter was founded in 1984. They did it with help from Vande Hey Company, Inc., Lighthouse Productions and Macy’s Believe.
You can see the light show for yourself every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday through December 29th.
Shows are scheduled for 6 and 8 p.m. at N255 Rogers Lane, Appleton, WI 54915. Spectators can tune their radios to 89.5 FM to hear the accompanying music.
