OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) — Oshkosh Schools will reopen tomorrow with the sole exception of Oshkosh West High School, which will resume Friday.
That news comes a day after a 16-year-old student was shot by a school resource officer after the student stabbed him.
Athletic practices and events districtwide will resume Thursday as scheduled.
Superintendent Dr. Vickie Cartwright says the delay is to help staff adjust.
“Just as many of our students are traumatized by this event, so were many of our staff members,” Cartwright told WTAQ. “We want to ensure we provide the right services so that our staff can take care of our students.”
West students and parents/guardians can access the building on Thursday, December 5 between Noon and 2 p.m. to retrieve any personal belongings in classrooms. All should enter through Door #24 and go directly to their second-hour classroom.
Zero-hour classes are canceled for West on Friday. Students who do not have a first-hour class may gather in the O Room.
