MENOMINEE, MI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man accused of killing his father during an argument at a Harris Township home has been taken into custody.
35-year old Gary Phillips-Donovan faces one count of homicide for the death of 74-YEAR OLD Michael Donovan.
According to the criminal complaint, Phillips-Donovan was not welcome when he “unexpectedly let himself in” to the home. There was a reported argument about the son stealing items. Donovan’s wife claims she found him lying on the garage floor with “extensive trauma to his face and head” about 20 minutes later.
Autoposy results show Donovan died of blunt force trauma to the head.
Police found charred clothing in a stove a residence where Phillips-Donovan is known to frequent, the complaint states.
Phillips-Donovan is not quoted in the complaint.
Phillips-Donovan appeared in District Court Wednesday, where a $750,000 bond was set. He returns to court December 4 for a probable cause conference, with a preliminary examination set for December 11.
