WINNEBAGO COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – An Oshkosh contractor accused of stealing money from one project to pay for other, unrelated projects is being ordered to stand trial.
76-year old Jerome Wagner waived a preliminary hearing Thursday on one count of theft in a business setting. He is set to return to court December 11th.
Wagner’s business, JeRob Inc., was paid nearly $74,000 by Stadler Machine for its new building, but he allegedly never delivered the money to Butler Manufacturing.
According to the criminal complaint, Wagner “admitted that he ran into financial difficulties, fell behind on paying for projects, and used the STADLER money to pay off previous projects. DEFENDANT stated he is forced to sell his home on Lake Winnebago and auction off personal property to pay back the money to STADLER. DEFENDANT could not provide specifics as to where the STADLER money went other than stating that there were several places he owed money and he paid them off. DEFENDANT stated he made a mistake.”
