GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay Metro Fire called out Tuesday afternoon to a report of a vehicle fire in a garage in the 300 block of 10th Street.
En route Dispatch reported a vehicle had exploded in the garage.
Crews responded and arrived within 5 minutes and found a large two stall detached mechanics garage with heavy fire from one stall.
A vehicle and tractor in this stall were fully involved in fire with extension to the structure.
All occupants had evacuated prior to Fire Dept. arrival. The fire was quickly knocked down and overhaul completed to assure extinguishment.
Heavy damage to one stall and contents with some extension to the adjoining stall. The owner stated he was welding when sparks apparently caught unknown material on fire.
The owner attempted to extinguish the fire with extinguishers but was unsuccessful.
Damage is estimated at $45,000.
