(WNFL) – The St. Norbert men’s basketball team struggled to put the ball in the hoop, shooting only 37.7 percent in a 75-50 loss to Elmhurst in Elmhurst, Ill. on Saturday.
The Green Knights led 17-13 with 8:15 left in the first half on a layup by Connor Curtis but then things turned sour.
Elmhurst outscored St. Norbert 24-7 the rest of the first half for a 37-24 halftime lead.
The Green Knights closed to within eight points (42-34) with 14:08 left but that’s as close as they would get.
The Green Knights were led by Joe Ciriacks with 14 points and Curtis with 12.
Jake Rhode had 17 points for Elmhurst while Derek Dotlich and Jay Militello added 15 and 10, respectively.
WOMEN
US-Stout 82, St. Norbert 50
At De Pere, the Green Knights were no match for the Blue Devils in the consolation game of the St. Norbert tournament.
Stout outscored St. Norbert 25-8 in the second quarter for a 45-22 halftime lead and cruised to the win.
Macie Zurfluh led St. Norbert (1-2) with 14 points.
Stout was led by Amber Fabeck and Lizzy Olsem with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
