GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Police say a man was beat up and robbed after showing up to a Green Bay hotel room for sex.
The man says a 16-year-old girl set him up.
In early August, at the Days Inn on Green Bay’s east side, police say three men hiding in a closet, jumped out, beat up, and robbed the 21-year-old man.
“We don’t ever want to see a crime like this occur in the Green Bay community,” said Commander Kevin Warych of the Green Bay Police Department.
17-year-olds Jayquwan Hood, Tahlee Leatherwood, and the 16-year-old girl have been charged in the case. Police aren’t identifying a third 17-year-old male, but say he also should be charged.
According to the criminal complaint, the girl used Snapchat to lure the man to the hotel. The man told police, when he was in the room, the girl told him she had a present for him. The man says she went into the bathroom and that’s when the three men attacked him. He told police one of them had a steak knife and said something along the lines of, “I will stab you.”
Warych tells FOX 11…
“In the process, the victim was robbed, then later taken against his will, put in his own car, in which the suspects used his own car, drove around to other ATMs, withdrew money and then dropped him off at another location.”
Before it all went down, according to the criminal complaint, the 16-year-old told the men the 21-year-old sexually assaulted her when she was 13. Police couldn’t say whether that claim was true or ever investigated.
Warych says there wasn’t proof the 21-year-old knew the girl was only 16.
“In the investigation, officers learned that the ages of what they presumed people were and what they were actually were different than what was described.”
In all, police say the man was robbed of his car (a value of $2,000, according to the owner), iPhone, Apple Watch, iPod, and at least $400.
Leatherwood, one of the suspects in the case, is accused of stealing another vehicle a few months earlier. Police say he crashed it into a home on Fisk Street. No one was hurt.
Leatherwood is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
Hood was charged Wednesday and is being held on a $15,000 cash bond.
