Congrats to Mitch Voight of Voight Acres in Shiocton for becoming our Farmer of the Month! We also need to thank his wife, Amanda for thinking of him and letting us know everything he does on the farm. You can easily tell that she appreciates it all.
It's safe to say that these two have their hands full, not only on the farm but at the house as well. If you ask Amanda, she can't imagine raising the kids any other way.
Mitch talked a little bit about how things have been going so far in 2019…it's been a struggle. Just about every farmer at this point can relate to that. Luckily, Mitch stays pretty optimistic about the farm and the future.
He mentioned how he hopes his sons stay connected to agriculture and show an interest in taking over the farm someday. Let's be honest, any farmer would be lying if they said they didn't have that same dream for their kids. But at this point, Mitch and Amanda's kids are a ways away from taking over anytime soon. But I will say, they seem pretty content in the barn.
Also, Mitch gave some advice to the younger generation of farmers out there. Bottom line: Don't give up.
