OCONTO FALLS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A new monument has people in Oconto Falls recognizing Veterans Day a little early this year.
The Veterans monument was built on the hillside overlooking Woodlawn Cemetery, where some local veterans are buried. The location is also on the Oconto Falls walking trail.
Those behind the project call the monument an unspoken thank you to local veterans and their sacrifices for our country.
“Never forget why we’re here. Never forget our laid heroes. Never forget those that came home and those that did not come home,” said Bob Maloney, project manager.
The Oconto Falls High School jazz ensemble also got to participate in the event by playing patriotic music.
